What is BSR Code?

BSR Codes stand for 'BASIC STATISTICAL RETURNS' It is a seven-digit code given by the Reserve Bank of India to all the registered banks in India. In the BSR code, the first three digits represent the bank code and the remaining four digits represent the branch code.

The bank gives the BSR code in Challan of TDS/TCS deposit. BSR code is used in TDS/TCS return filing in challan details known as CIN details. The Bank BSR code is different from the branch code used for bank drafts, etc.
